My son has been at Fighting Chance in the 4-7 year old Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class since October 2020, and I am overwhelmingly pleased with the coaches' dedication and patience teaching the children's class. My son recently started at Fighting Chance for BJJ, he is almost 5, extremely timid and needs a lot of instruction and I have seen so much patience from the instructors. We are just a few classes in and I can already see him opening up and getting mo... re engaged! He is even coming home and telling us things he learned in class, 100% recommend! Background: Been Traveling/Training grappling ~6 yrs, some wrestling and instructing fundamentals and kids classes. Connection: I met the head coach, Julian Synan, while I was working a local tournament as a scorekeeper. His team actually won the tou... rnament if I recall correctly. We got to talking, and upon finding his school was in St. Aug, and my training partner James happened to live nearby, so we decided to check it out 2 days later. Experience: Julian and his assistant coach Zach were extremely welcoming, kind, and knowledgeable. From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out, we felt like everyone wanted us to be there, and while some coaches can be a bit detached and secretive unless you are a regular member, Julian built upon fundamental defensive techniques and paired them with his personal advanced chains; the very same ones which he uses as an active competitor (see his Kasai matches if you are a submission grappling fan). This is a great spot to train. The professor and team were very welcoming and friendly. I'll be back here to train every time I'm in town for sure.
